Communicating child protection issues can be extremely difficult. Concepts such as family violence, neglect, and child protection intervention are complex, sensitive, and often misunderstood.
Danila Dilba & Territory Families needed a way to clearly explain how the child protection system works, while helping community audiences understand what happens when concerns are raised — and how families can engage with support services.
-
Educational Animations created Elvis’s Story, a three-part animated narrative series designed for community education around child safety and wellbeing.
Told through the voice of Uncle Max, the story follows Elvis, a young boy whose wellbeing declines as conflict at home escalates. Across three short films, the series explores:
• The impact of family violence on children
• How neglect affects health, development and education
• What happens when child protection services intervene
• How families can work with services to improve outcomesUsing animation, storytelling and clear narration, the series translates complex legal and social processes into a format that is accessible, relatable and easy to understand.
-
The three films provide a clear and engaging explanation of child protection processes and support services, while reinforcing that keeping children safe is a shared community responsibility.
By using narrative storytelling rather than formal instruction, the series helps audiences connect emotionally with the issue and better understand the importance of safe, stable and supportive homes for children.
