About Michael

I’m Michael Roseth, founder of Educational Animations—a media producer, visual artist, musician and educator.

Teaching has been a constant throughout my career, across art, music and animation. It’s also central to how I approach communication: understanding a subject is one thing; helping someone else understand it takes a different kind of thinking.

How it began

My background is in visual arts and printmaking, alongside work as a music teacher, composer and performer. These interests found a shared purpose when the NT Department of Health asked me to create kidney-health education resources for Aboriginal communities.

That project began a career in making complex information accessible through creative media. My experience includes ten years working with another company, before establishing Educational Animations.

Today, I bring over 15 years’ experience across health, government and community projects, creating resources that connect important information with people’s everyday lives.

More ways to communicate

Working across visuals, music and education gives me different ways to approach your communication challenge.

Animation can show a process that’s difficult to explain in words. A story can make an unfamiliar situation recognisable. Music and song can bring feeling, energy and memorable language to a message.

Not every project needs all of these. The value is in choosing what serves your audience, and developing the words, images and sound together from the beginning.

Working together

We start with your knowledge of the subject and the people you want to reach. I ask questions, explore what might be unfamiliar to your audience, and work with you to identify what the resource needs to communicate.

The aim is to make information easier to understand without losing its accuracy or meaning. That means working closely with subject-matter experts and making room for the perspectives, language and experience of the people the resource is for.

My projects have ranged from multilingual health education to community safety and anti-discrimination resources. Across these different subjects, the purpose remains the same: to create something people can understand, relate to and remember.

After working in Darwin for 2 decades I an now based Sydney and the NSW South Coast, working with organisations across Australia.

Start with understanding

We take time to understand the subject and what it looks like in people’s lives. Wherever possible, this includes listening directly to members of the intended audience, alongside drawing on your knowledge and experience.

Find the right creative response

A story may need realism and gravitas, humour and music, or visuals without words. Drawing on his background in education, art and music, Michael develops the combination that best serves your message—without being restricted to a single style.

Work directly together

You work directly with Michael from the first conversation through to delivery. Ideas, questions and feedback are exchanged directly, giving your project continuity and individual attention throughout.

When a project requires additional skills, Michael brings together trusted specialists in areas such as animation, illustration, design, voice, music and language. Each team is shaped around the needs of the project.
